Thanks Maddie! Yes you must visit a cheese shop when you’re in Wengen. One of my favorite things to do on a trip to Europe is to pick up cheese from a local cheese shop and bread from a bakery and have it for dinner where you’re staying. Nice way to break up the meals out at restaurants but still very easy!

Thanks Annie! What we think of as “Swiss cheese” is a cheese that’s called Emmentaler. Definitely not my favorite Swiss cheese…too mild!

Here are my three favorite parts of this great posting. #3 is learning that cheese played a part in the choice of Switzerland. #2 is learning that there is such a thing as asparagus season. I have gone 70 years without knowing that. And #1 is that I learned a great new phrase: life is life-ing. Have fun in Switzerland.

I am so happy for you guys! The trip sounds fabulous! I have only been to Zurich as a transit point to go skiing in Austria. Your new house is so you two! The backyard reminds me of Chappaqua. We'll be getting into Strawberry season when the birthday party comes around, so I have a fabulous strawberry cake I will send you the recipe for.
